You can spend “a little” and acquire something that will keep the housekeeper honest, or you can spend more and protect your valuables from a typical home burglar. "You get what you pay for" really does apply here. Safes without at least the UL RSC (Residential Security Container) label can be opened in less than five minutes with a common hammer and large screwdriver. If you are genuinely concerned about fire, buy a safe that has a legitimate fire rating / label (not just “factory” rated). And make sure the locks are rated by UL!!
